Challenge:
Required more storage space and desired more efficiency in picking process. Also needed to automate
the Return Goods process.
Solution:
ISG assisted Baker in updating their existing facility with the following enhancements:
- Converted paper pick system to RF picking
- Installed a conveyor and barcode scanner system
- Added new rack and case flow shelving
- Added an additional warehouse consisting of Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) racking
- Overall reduced walk times and yielded a higher volume of shippables per day
- Installed an innovative 24VDC conveyor system for Returned Goods consisting of a 4 level
conveyor structure that has a vertical lift on each end. This system sorts the books and
routes returns to specific areas.
