Challenge:
Their existing 250,000 square foot distribution center in California was requiring more space to store
additional SKUs. Plus they needed higher throughputs to meet the order demand.
Solution:
A high efficiency, low noise, 24 VDC, conveyor system tied several picking operations together,
streamlined the processes, reduced order pick times and shortened the time for orders to get to
the shipping dock. Order accuracy was also increased in the process. This system integrated several
material handling elements such as:
- Barcode Scanning and Sortation Software
- Narrow Belt Shipping Sorter enabling sortation to multiple stores
- Additional Pallet Racking providing 500 added locations
- Three Level Pick Module with Case Flow shelving and approximately 2,700 pick locations
- Several hundred feet of conveyor including two spiral conveyors to transport product from
level to level
